Urine Drug Testing Overview
Urine is considered the gold standard in instant drug testing. Urine instant drug tests are cost-effective and easy to administer. They have been in use for many years, and technology has advanced during this time so that the quality of results in urine instant drug tests today is comparable to laboratory screening, providing an attractive alternative to sending employees to a laboratory collection site to provide specimens.
The window of detection in urine specimens is as early as two hours after use to an average of 72 hours after use, depending on the individual's metabolism and the drug. Urinalysis can detect from three to 12 drugs at a time, including cocaine (COC), methamphetamines (mAMP), amphetamines (AMP), tetrahydrocannabinols (THC), opiates (OPI), phencyclidene (PCP), barbiturates (BAR), benzodiazepines (BZO), methadone (MTD), ecstasy (MDMA) and propoxyphene (PPX).
