Medical Review Officer (MRO)

WOLFE recommends strongly that one of our medical review officers (MROs) conducts a medical review whenever we confirm that a drug test result on one of your employees is positive. It is required for all drug tests in industries regulated by the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT). WOLFE's MROs are:

  • Certified by the American Association of Medical Review Officers (AAMRO) or Medical Review Officer Certification Council (MROCC),
  • Licensed physicians who have specialized knowledge in the pharmacology and toxicology of legally prescribed and illegal illicit drugs.

A medical review will rule out the possibility that a prescription medication or another legitimate issue caused the positive result.

When you use this essential service, our MRO office will interview the donor to obtain prescription information. If the donor has a valid prescription under his or her name and is under a doctor's care, the test will most probably be reported back as a negative.

MROs are impartial in pursuing accurate drug testing information. They remove your HR staff from being in the middle when a drug test produces a non-negative test result, and they protect employee rights and privacy.

WOLFE will integrate medical reviews seamlessly as part of our drug testing program management services.
